We are proud to present our 24th Early Bird Radio episode & this time around we did a SoundFile on California based band, the Free Nationals (@freenationals).⠀

The incredibly talented 4-piece is uniquely & unapologetically themselves. Finding solace in the colorful funk music they expertly produce. The group consists of Jose Rios (@josemrios) on guitar, T.Nava (@tnavamusic) on keys, Callum Connor (@callumconnorxx) on drums & Kelsey Gonzales (@lordkelstro) on bass. &&, as many know, they have risen through the musical ranks alongside their very close friend, Anderson .Paak (@anderson._paak). ⠀

The Free Nationals’ story with .Paak dates allll the way back to the Breezy Lovejoy days & that has remained to be the case even after Breezy changed his name to something a little bit more recognizable these days. ⠀

One of the best part’s about this album is the features are NEVER forced & coincide perfectly with the energy of the project. From love ballads with Daniel Caesar to rock songs with TI, the Free Nationals keep you on your toes while expertly maintaining the direction of the ship. ⠀

This mix features a lot of dope music from artists who call California home & also a few other insanely talented bands/groups. We included the likes of @still_woozy, @phonyppl, @_overdoz, @hiatuskaiyote, @theinternet & of course the band that is “indigenous to the funk,” the @freenationals. ⠀
