This man, @yussefdayes, is hands down one of the best drummers we’ve seen. It was a blessing to stumble across some live performances of him doing what he does best, just absolutely shredding the drums. A master of the art of improv & a collaborative genius who is constantly placing himself in the same room amongst the greatest musicians & creatives the world has to offer.⠀

Yussef has been particularly busy lately as he gears up to release a collaborative project with fellow London artist @tommisch on the legendary jazz label @bluenoterecords. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic the duo had been scheduled to perform at Glastonbury Music Festival this summer.⠀

Pass collaborative projects have included being the drummer in a band with his brothers called “United Vibrations.” Eventually he began honing his unique style through additional projects & records with @kamaalwilliams as @yussefkamaal, @alfamist, @mansurbrownmusic, @rocco_palladino & @cstaceymusic. These collaborations allowed him to blend genres & influences such as jazz, Senegalese percussion, UK grime, afro-beat & rock.⠀

This tracklist is jazz heavy. But not necessarily in the classic sense of the genres definition. There isn’t any Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis or John Coltrane. BUT this is a new age of jazz music & artists such as @ezracollective, @badbadnotgood, @kamasiwashington, @wufunk, @melodiesinfonie, @robertglasper, @braxton_cook, @jrakz & sooo many more are included on this episode. ⠀
